Walking Through the Seasons
Indigenous Ecological Knowledge Workshop Series
We do not simply identify plants—we recognize them as relatives. We do not merely study seasons—we walk alongside them.
Our Journey Together
Welcome to "Walking Through the Seasons," a transformational learning journey grounded in Indigenous Ecological Knowledge and traditional plant relationships. These workshops, courses, and community experiences offer more than information—they invite you into relationship with the living world through the wisdom of traditional knowledge keepers.
Our approach is guided by ʔa·knumu¢tiǂiǂ (Natural Law/Order), the foundational framework that has sustained Indigenous communities in relationship with the land since time immemorial. Through seasonal observations, plant relationships, and traditional practices, we'll explore how to walk in balance with the natural world in ways that honor both ancestral wisdom and contemporary needs.
The Five Guiding Principles
All our learning experiences are rooted in these essential teachings:
Gratitude — Approaching the natural world with thankfulness and acknowledgment
Integrity — Doing what's right even when no one is watching
Reciprocity — Taking only what's needed, giving back in equal measure
Protocol — Approaching plants and knowledge with proper respect and intention
Humility — Embracing our role as lifelong learners in relationship with ancient wisdom
Upcoming Free Workshops
The Language of Seasons: Indigenous Phenology
Date: [Month Day, Year] | Time: [Time with Timezone] | Platform: Zoom
Begin your journey by exploring how Indigenous communities understand time through careful observation of plant and animal relationships rather than calendar dates. Together, we'll discover the foundations of phenology—the study of seasonal changes—through an Indigenous perspective grounded in relationship and reciprocity.
This interactive virtual workshop introduces the five guiding principles while providing practical tools for developing your own seasonal observation practice. You'll leave with a deeper understanding of how to recognize seasonal transitions through plant indicators and begin developing a more connected relationship with the natural world.
This workshop is offered freely in the spirit of building community and sharing essential knowledge.

About the Facilitator
Darcy and Jenny Fisher are dedicated Plant Wellness Practitioners, educators, and stewards of Indigenous ecological knowledge, carrying forward the teachings of their Ktunaxa, Salish, and Pend d’Oreille ancestors. Their journey is deeply rooted in a lifetime of land-based learning, mentorship from knowledge keepers, and lived experience that extends far beyond academic study.
As the founders of Keepers of the Seasons, LLC, they guide others in reconnecting with the land through traditional plant knowledge, sustainable harvesting practices, and reciprocal relationships with the natural world. Their approach to teaching is centered on respect, relational accountability, and attunement to the language of the land—honoring plants not merely as resources, but as relatives, teachers, and integral parts of a greater ecological and spiritual balance.
Through their work, Darcy and Jenny emphasize that Indigenous knowledge is not static; it is lived, observed, and continuously woven through generations. They are committed to sharing these teachings in a way that respects their lineage and ensures that knowledge is stewarded, not extracted.
Join them in this transformative journey through the seasons, where learning is more than an intellectual exercise—it is an embodied experience of connection, reciprocity, and belonging.
