A Land That Remembers Us

The land remembers us, just as we remember it.
Every season, every shift in the wind, and every scent that lingers in the air tells a story—one passed down through generations, waiting for us to listen.
At Six Twenty, our work is more than skincare. It is about honoring our place within the natural world, understanding that we are not separate from the land but deeply interwoven with it.
In Ktunaxa, we say:
"a-kxam̓is q̓api qapsin"—"all living things."
This is more than a phrase; it is a way of seeing. A rhythm that pulses through the land, the whisper of trees, the wisdom carried by water. It is the heartbeat of ʔa·knumu¢tiǂiǂ, the law of nature—a sacred balance of harmony and reciprocity.
When we teach about plants, we do not see them as mere resources. They are our teachers. They carry knowledge older than any written word, waiting for us to listen.

Recently, we attended the ATNI Winter Convention in Portland, where we had the honor of meeting new customers, reconnecting with old friends, and sharing the heart of what we do.

A young mother approached our booth with her two daughters, searching for something to soothe a rash that had developed on her youngest child’s wrist. Her child wasn’t yet speaking, but the irritation was clear—the scratching, the discomfort, the redness.
We shared our knowledge of Traditional Made Bison Salve and Smudge Salve, explaining how each works with the body rather than against it. She trusted her intuition and chose the Traditional Made Bison Salve.
The next morning, she was the very first person at our table.

The teachings of ʔa·knumu¢tiǂiǂ don’t just shape how we create skincare—they shape how we live.
After losing my father in 2023, I (Darcy) faced my own health crisis. A pancreas attack nearly ended in tragedy. My doctor told me:
🩺 "You will have diabetes for life. Medication is your only option."
But I refused to accept that. I turned back to the land, our ancestral diet, and the wisdom of plants.
Months later, my doctor called me.
💬 "Whatever you’re doing, keep it up. I want to congratulate you—you’ve overcome diabetes."
That moment reaffirmed what we already knew:
🌿 Our bodies recognize what is natural.
🌿 Our ancestors already understood how to heal.
🌿 The land provides, if we learn to listen.
